Dear readers and lovers of the Italian language and culture,
A few days ago, David Lynch passed away. I discovered his cinema alongside Fellini’s when I was a philosophy student at university. Over the past few days, I’ve been reflecting on what I’ve learned from these two immense artists, which I can summarise as follows: the power of art lies in its ability to teach us to see reality as something alive, magical, and meaningful, even in its ambiguity.
Inspired by this thought, I’ve written the following: a description of the life we live when we fall asleep.

Prima, ci addormentiamo.
Addormentarsi è un verbo riflessivo: quando il nostro corpo si addormenta fa un’ultima azione cosciente e poi entra nello stato incosciente del sonno.
Entriamo coscienti attraverso la porta del sonno,

e incoscienti dormiamo.
Una volta che ci siamo addormentati, il nostro corpo si rilassa, respira, rimane fermo.
Ma all’interno di noi viviamo una vita parallela:
addormentati, sognamo.
La nostra mente, libera dai limiti della vita cosciente, esplora luoghi familiari ed estranei; incontra persone; fa esperienze; ha emozioni.
